"The arena...Another one of the more iconic, and balance-tipping battles of the war against Abraxas’ virus army. The virus ‘god’ decided to try and take the North American arena and turn it into a breeding ground for viruses by converting the server into a ‘hive’. It took a large scale attack by the NPD, as well as several factions of Net Ops, including a newly developed insurgence team commissioned by the new director, to push back most of the main forces, while simultaneously bypassing their defenses to the administration hub with our stealth and infiltration operatives."
"The plan went through without much of a hitch: The bulk of our forces fought of the masses, and we had reclaimed the admin hub, but one of Abraxas’ generals; Hecate, had a unique function: she could access other avatars’ memory feed, and use their ‘fears’ against them. Thankfully, many of the agents caught in this trap were able to overcome these fears and broke free of their ‘mental’ prisons. And not a moment too soon..."
"Hecate had to use the remaining viruses in their numbers for this ‘spell’, so she was left vulnerable, but that was the least of our problems. Viral, or who we assumed to be a defected viral at the time, had arrived at the arena, and decided to interfere with the operation. Rift and Huntress, both of our commanding officers in this mission, against advisement to remain in the Durendal for strategic needs, chose to take to the field and confront ‘Viral’. The battle was intense, and seemed one sided, in favor of the enemy, but it was enough to hold the possessed Viral’s interest long enough for our development team to arrive on scene. There was a special operations mission specifically for the R&D team that depended on keeping Viral in one location, and unable to resist."
"Using the newly secured admin hub, we had isolated ‘Viral’ along with a few of his closest companions, and trapped him inside of an isolated arena, where the only way he could escape was to eliminate the competition, and we made sure he had some very tough competition. We even had a few arena gladiators end up in the mix, who were nice enough to help us apprehend and incapacitate the possessed virus."
"Using a machine of mine, and others in my team’s design, we released the dormant programming that held Viral’s true personality matrix, trapped within this ‘Ouroboros’ possessing his body, and succeeded in bringing back a once lost, but valuable ally. However, during the confrontation with Ouroboros, we had lost the viral general that was running the show in the Arena, and she lived to fight another day. Up to this point, we had kept Abraxas’ forces at bay at every turn, and we had even managed to gain an ally on the inside. But it will only be a matter of time before things go south...The ultimate question, however, is when? ...And will we be ready for it?"
