AMPLIFY

Subject Notes: This avatar was born of series 2 of the AUGMENT experiments. She appears to possess the unique ability of gathering up pure digital energy, previously thought to be far too dangerous to tap into directly, and convert the energy into a usable form for her to power up programs, both used by avatars or avatars themselves. The primary devices used in this are her hair, and a block of densely coded data that seems unable to be properly analyzed. It has proven impossible to copy it safely, as it appears to be partially integrated with her personality matrix, imparting her own mental instability onto test subjects. Thus far, not one test subject has survived, either finding a way to delete themselves or fighting until forced to be deleted.

She appears to have been extensively modified from her original form, gaining a set of armor as well as weapon, both Add-Ons gaining functionality that requires use of her gathered energy. Aside from these uses, it appears impossible for her to expend any energy to power up her own body or programs, due to the intensity of the feedback that occurs when the energy reenters her body. It would be useful to know if she could empower an avatar empowering her, like the other rogue born of series 2, Integrate. Thus far, however, he has proven impossible to capture at this time.

Experiment Log:

Series 1: This series was designed to test the subject's combat ability. Research done on the remnants of the AUGMENT series 2 data indicated that the subject would lack any true combat power. This was presumably true before her code was reformatted by another. During this series, out of 100 combat tests against various opponents, she was deleted 43% of the time. Large groups, even of weak enemies, make short work of her. The subject fared best against slow enemies, even when they had powerful armor and programs that could instantly delete her if she were hit. Emotional feedback loops occurred 79% of the time, with roughly 25% of the loops directed towards the enemies. 55% of her feedback loops resulting in her own deletion, with 30% of that ultimately caused by her own programs.

Series 2: During this set of experiments, a device was installed onto the subject that would cause immense pain and paralyzation upon remote activation. This was done to ensure she followed directions, as this series required her own control in order to test the extent of her energy manipulation. During this series, it was determined that her programs directed towards avatars are distinct from the ones directed towards active programs. Each variation on these programs targets a different aspect to boost. Unusually, it appears that though each gathered energy is the same power, the effectiveness of the empowerment is always double the aspect as it is normally. This means that though the power required through normal means to increase a program by 100% efficiency varies from program to program, the subject always uses the same amount. It is hypothesized that the power she uses is merely a catalyst to gathering even more of the raw digital energy. If so, discovery of the method by which this works could supply limitless amounts of this energy in usable form.

Series 3: To test her mental stability, already not optimal, the subject was exposed to various emotional stimuli based on her own memory data. In 43.5% of simulated situations, subject Amplify entered into feedback loops impossible to break without outside means. Allowing one based on anger to increase far beyond safe ranges resulted in imminent collapse as the subject destroyed everything around her until she ran out of stamina. Further examination revealed that while the resulting sleep mode allowed her to break the loop, subject had suffered permanent damage to her personality matrix. Closer inspection revealed that this was far from the first time such had happened, with an estimated 78 prior episodes. If the subject had been in a different simulation, it is possible she would have deleted herself with her indiscriminate rampage.

Conclusion: Subject Amplify is potentially of inestimable value. Her energy manipulation could result in select avatars becoming unstoppable as they thrive on nothing but raw digital energy. However, her flaws and actions put more danger to her own well-being than anything else. Without her capture, in a month or two, there would only be a 2% chance of her remaining intact enough to analyze. Further damage to her personality matrix may render the power amplification program within her inoperative, which would result in her being unable to gather enough raw energy to be useful. Furthermore, she is entirely unsuited to any ability to act freely.

Recommendation: Subject Amplify is to be kept isolated and in a semi-sleep mode, aware enough to know what is going on around her but not enough to respond to any of it. During the course of the next month, her data is to be analyzed as intensely as possible, copied and injected into other test subjects, and made use of. Upon the ability to fully reproduce her energy manipulation programs, she is to be permanently deleted.

MIRROR

Subject Notes: While subject appears to have the appearance and personality of a young girl, analysis of memory data shows that upon forming after AUGMENT series 4, subject Mirror had no personality and no cosmetic data. While fragmented and damaged, the data indicates that the subject was merely a blob of moving data, mindlessly seeking targets to use its ability on. The subject's unique program is to be able to fully copy the data of any avatar it sees. Not only is cosmetic data and framework transferred over, but also programmed Add-Ons. The subject also has a memory cache that appears to list address shortcuts to downloaded programs, allowing access to those as well. Each address appears to correspond to a specific avatar.

Experiment Log:

Series 1: In this series, the subject was thrown into numerous battles. Initial examination revealed very little ability to fight, both from studying the remnants of the AUGMENT series 5 experiments, and the analysis of the subject upon capture. As anticipated, however, while subject Mirror is nigh-helpless to fight in her normal form, her imitation of other avatars is flawless. As her form changed, it was noted that her personality had slight differences as well. She gained immediate access to the combat units' provided Add-Ons, and appeared to know exactly how to use them. Similar to subject Amplify (see: Report Av2a), the subject had the most difficulty in situations with many opponents. Notably, though, she failed the most when all of the faced enemies were of the same strength, and even worse if they were all weak.

During her battles, subject Mirror was deleted 60% of the time. The subject only seems to gain access to downloaded programs after having seen them, which placed her at a disadvantage at the beginning of each match. For every fight that the subject lasted over a minute, she had a 90% victory rate. In situations where the subject faced one strong avatar and several weak ones, she had a 95% victory rate.

Series 2: This set of experiments was run concurrently along series 1 with an implanted program to monitor the coding of the subject's mimicry. Its mechanics are simple but intensive. First, the subject must make visual contact with a target. At this time, the subject establishes a stream between her and the target. Subject Mirror then, rather than fully copying the data, creates false programs within them that utilize the code of the target, allowing the transformation into the targeted avatar. Through this stream, for every downloaded program that the subject sees, she automatically marks down an address shortcut to connect to that program, again using false programs to utilize its code. This shortcut is then saved in a private memory cache, along with a brief representation of the code, to allow connection to that program again once a stream has been established. It currently is less than 1% full.

This stream has a limited range, and upon deletion of the target, while the false programs can still utilize the code, once it breaks down completely, the subject loses access to the imitation, reverting to her base state. This also happens if the target is physically too far away for the data stream to be maintained. Examining records of conversations with the subject (attachment) shows that while subject Mirror is aware of the limitations of her program, she is unaware of the existence of the data stream. Interviewed test subjects shows that they have no awareness of the stream as well.

Conclusion: Subject Mirror is already of enormous value. While it has been proven difficult to successfully establish the stream that is crucial to the program, all other aspects of it have already been successfully copied. It has even been proven to work in test subjects, when the stream is created by an outside program. Further analysis of the shortcuts in her memory cache may also provide access to the data of avatars she has imitated in the past, providing more specialized programs to further research. It is potentially possible, and worth a future experiment, for the subject to be reverted once more to her original programming through stripping her personality and cosmetic data, as well as her memory. Study of the oldest data indicates that without a true form, the subject possessed vision in every direction around her, potentially enhancing the copy program.

In addition to her value as a research project, subject Mirror has shown to have a uniquely gifted mind for strategy, in some cases displaying more creativity with her imitated programs than the original users. This allows her to utilize data more effectively than other avatars, and places her in a skill level similar to that of a Hunter.

Recommendation: Subject Mirror is to be safely stored in sleep mode until transport to a more secure site. She is also to be modified so that her imitation program is flawed, altering the colors of the cosmetic data that she streams to herself as she uses it. This will ensure that she cannot escape by hiding as someone else, as she had tried to do in the experiments. Upon being secured, she is to have personality, cosmetic, and memory data stripped, to convert her into a loyal Hunter.

DOMAIN

Subject Notes: Subject Domain is the most physically-oriented avatar out of the four identified AUGMENT avatars. Analysis of the series 1 data remnants indicates that the unidentified AUGMENT could potentially be stronger (see: Report on the Results of AUGMENT), but such a possibility is rated at below 5%. With his terraformation program, the subject is capable of overlaying his own programs on top of the programmed terrain data of Cyberearth. Unlike the other two subjects (See: Reports Av2a and Av4), he shows no signs of any modification or reformatting. His strength programs are running at peak efficiency, with very little waste energy. However, the subject possesses little ability for ranged attacks.

Experiment Log:

Series 1: As could be expected, subject Domain proved most formidable during the combat trials, being deleted only 15% of the time. He proved equally effective against singles and groups of enemies. Interestingly enough, he proved more motivated during fights against powerful solo enemies. This recklessness is what led to the majority of his defeats. During these fights, the subject utilized his terraformation both offensively and defensively, go from full-out combat to hit-and-run tactics. His terrains were used to maximize his advantage by negating advantages the enemies had. Examples include: Knocking heavy ground-bound avatars into a chasm, turning the battlefield into water to weaken an avatar that used fire, turning it into sand to weaken a water user, etc. (To see more details, see attached file) His biggest weakness was caused by ranged enemies. In addition to having little ability to strike them back, he has little-to-no defense against such attacks, other than to change the terrain.

Series 2: The subject willingly underwent the experiments that tested his ability to change surrounding data. It is important to note he did not try to escape during this series or the last series by changing the area into something he could use. It appears that the spikes retracted into his arms act as powerful specialized logic probes, penetrating the firewalls surrounding terrain data and forcing his own programs through it. This ability even extends to weather data, projecting his program into and through holes in the firewalls there. Some of his programs are complete overwrites of any terrain data, while others are modifications to the data. Notably, it takes time for the overlaid data to fully load in, causing a delay before the full area affected changes. This area extends in 50 feet all around the subject in a circle, and it appears subject Domain possesses no control over the size.

Conclusion: Subject Domain is built for combat and appears to thrive in it. He uses his terraformation only to that extent, as shown by his lack of escape attempts unlike the other two AUGMENT subjects. However, his armor is nonconducive to blending into the majority of his terrains, and he lacks any ability to fight at a distance. His programs have already been fully copied. As no subject is currently suitable for such modifications, creating an avatar to use these programs will be the easiest way to use them. At their full potential and with enough avatars, these programs can give PariahTech full control over the appearance of Cyberearth. It is simple to create new programs that work with this, as they are merely vehicles for terrain data.

The only thing the subject appears to be concerned with at the moment is subject Mirror. No reason for this has been revealed in studies of their respective memory data, and they were not formed at the same time, so it appears unfounded. However, this is a useful situation to have.

Recommendation: By using subject Mirror's presence and safekeeping as a condition, subject Domain is to be recruited as a Hunter. Provided he accepts the offer, he is to be modified to allow for ranged combat and ranged terrain modification, as well as modifications being added to his programs to allow for size control, and the addition of new terrain data. His armor is likewise to be modified to allow him to blend into any environment as a pseudo-proxy.
