Name: Saber
Avatar Style: Combat/Law Enforcement
Gender: Male
Appearance: Default
User: Jacob Derrix
Personality: Normally calm and level headed, even when provoked, but can be quite intense in battle if the situation is critical. Saber tries to think of the logical sides of arguments, which can sometimes lead to interesting debates between himself and his human partner, Jake. As an official avatar of the net police, he understands and respects the command hierarchy, and seldom questions commands as long as he has all of the facts and possible outcomes. Through observing some of Jake's encounters during official police business, he has also come understand mercy, and when it is appropriate to delete, or isolate (capture) a rogue avatar. He dedicates most of his career as a police avatar to hunting down and finding his rogue partners, but he won't abandon a helpless avatar if he is needed.
History: Net Ops agent registration code; #Z-273-Ax195. Originally one of three prototype combat avatars for the NYNPD's Project Blade-Edge, Saber was the only avatar not corrupted badly enough to go full rogue by the heavy storm that caused the other two avatars; Dagger and Halberd, to breach containment and escape during development. With Jake's assistance, his data had been refined and de-fragmented to be free of errors and ensure he wouldn't be at risk of going rogue himself. Saber now works with Jake as his new net partner, and focuses most of his official duties on finding any clues that could lead to his other two rogue avatar colleagues. When not on call for police business, he and Jake head to the local arcades, to enjoy some leisurely battles that help hone his skills and gain experience that isn't found in textbook combat knowledge.
Add-Ons:
Combat - Data blade: The sword Saber came with when he was first designed. It's design is that of a large, single-edged broadsword. It can deal serious damage on it's own, but can be upgraded for increased damage. (found in Appearance pic)
Combat - De-Rez Blaster: The gun that came with Saber when he was first designed. It has data scrambling effects on its targets, and the effects can be stronger or different, depending on the downloadable program that can augment the blaster's rounds. The blaster is semi-automatic, and can fire 2 rounds per second.
Combat - Battle Armor: While Saber can normally handle most situations with logic, or his data blade or De-Rez blaster, he has a backup armor program to improve his damage tolerance, and enhance his security systems, for tougher avatars and viruses.
Connectivity - Cyber Speeder: A Connectivity download taking the form of a hover bike, it boosts connectivity by 75% and has excellent handling and breaking power while on Cyber Earth.
Cosmetic - Rogue Camo Skin: There are times when Saber and Jake have to get information from even the most dangerous of places. And in order to protect from exposing themselves to the public (or worse yet, the underground network), an undercover disguise was custom built for Saber's dirtier tasks. This special skin overlays his appearance, vocal patterns, and overall behavior with a different style, without having to change his core programming.
Downloaded Programs:
Combat - Data Blade V2: This increases the damage output of the Data Blade, and has a burst strike upgrade that deals explosive damage to the area of impact within a 5 foot radius of the strike. Strike limit of 3 bursts before the Program automatically deactivates and requires a recharge (4 posts)
Combat - Data scrambler mod: This weapon mod converts any damage inflicted to a target that initially damages an avatar's code into a scrambling program that instead rearranges the afflicted avatar's code. This forces a minor lag in the avatar while it tries to reorganize its programming, and the effects of this mod can be stacked. This program has no cool down, but must be deactivated if the DP limit is reached. While active, this mod affects all combat programs.
Combat - rapid/auto-fire mod: A mod for the De-Rez blaster, allowing it to fire in bursts of 5 with a pull of the trigger, or be set for automatic firing. Limit of 5 trigger pulls before auto-shutdown, automatically deactivates after using automatic fire for one post. (10 post cool down)
Combat - Dual Blade Mod: A melee combat mod that splits the wielder's weapon into two, slightly smaller copies, for dual wielding capability during hand-to-hand combat.
Combat - Dual Pistol Mod: A ranged combat mod that creates an identical copy of the wielder's current ranged weapon (if only one is available), for dual wielding capability during a gunfight. Shot limits for weapons are shared while this mod is active, but cooldowns remain the same.
Combat - Firewall barrier: A spherical barrier that encompasses Saber, and any avatar within a simulated 2ft radius. This barrier has all the properties of a computer firewall, protecting against most virus-inducing attacks. This firewall can be activated once every other post, and lasts during the post it was activated, but nothing can go in or out while the barrier is active.
Combat - Combat Armor Shift (CAS) program: A special expandable download that enables avatars to change their overall battle stats and equipment to place emphasis on one or more area of performance, to better suit the current battle. This program requires time to recharge between shifts (no less than 5 posts have to pass before another shift is possible). This is the base program, combat shift upgrades have to be downloaded separately, and other downloads are unavailable while CAS is active and running one of the custom combat modes. The battle statistics that are affected are Speed, Power, Durability, and Accuracy.**
–Combat - CAS SharpShot: Sacrifices durability to increase accuracy. This mode comes with a built-in spreader shot. Spreader bullet split into three smaller rounds with more armor-piercing damage than a normal bullet would (but are weaker than a normal bullet is, so several of these shots would be required), and a burst shot (radial attack that explodes on impact, often leaving opponents off balance if it didn't outright delete the target). As the name implies, this armor shift specializes in long-range combat.
–Combat - CAS SkyStrike: Sacrifices some power to increase speed. This mode has a speed boost ability, but reduces maneuverability while active. Maximum speed of 85mph on a straightaway (125mph with the speed boost active). Weapons change to a long range rifle that shifts into a lance. The Data Blade is attached to the rifle/lance, acting as an additional handle for the larger weapon, or detaches to act as a close range melee weapon (example). This style is Meant for high speed, close/long-ranged and aerial combat.
–Combat - CAS Panzer: This mode sacrifices speed and accuracy to greatly increase power and durability. Guns can use rapid-fire shots, or a single charged cannon blast for increased damage and wider blast range. The cannon will exhaust all power for the blaster that fired a cannon blast, and will need time to charge for about 5 posts before the exhausted blaster(s) can be used for ranged use again (also recommended to use while stationary, so as not to be thrown off balance and/or into the air while firing the cannon). When on the defensive, The cannon blasters connect together to form a riot shield. The blasters can either be shut (like when positioned on his back) or open (able to be held like a gun). The shield is fairly durable, but the blasters will separate after enough hits (hit count depends on strength of the attacks). The blasters can also close around the wielder's hands, for powerful close-range strikes. A combination of long range artillery and close range power strikes, this armor functions best at mid-range. Note: Each blaster has a different cool down for when it fires a charged cannon blast.
-Combat CAS Savage: This mode is a combination of power and strength, for the cost of some durability, and accuracy. But for this form, accuracy isn't something very widely used. Savage mode is a bestial themed form, as such, its main weapons are claws and a tail, and a chameleon function that allows for a stealth approach by blending in with the surroundings, but by no means a way to become invisible. Due to the animalistic nature of savage mode, activating this program will cause minor personality quirks, such as increased aggression, and unpredictability in combat. As a bonus feature, Savage mode also comes with a special vision setting where the user is able to see code in place of cosmetic shape, bypassing any special properties of a program that may mask the program's user, and seeing through any concealments or disguises.
