Name: Trenia
Avatar Style: Data Architect
Gender: Female
Appearance: Elsword's Eve (Minus drones)
Personality:Though she often appears cold and disconnected from what she does, Trenia treats her job with an almost religious dedication. To her, the recovery and preservation of knowledge is the highest of purposes. After all, what else is she but information? Though typically information of historic and technological nature, she gathers data from all fields of study as she comes across it and carefully catalogs each bit within her archives.
Trenia is typically very serious. She does not joke very often, and often the humor comes in the form of deadpan observation only made amusing by her odd vocal patterns. As her vocal unit is not as advanced as the rest of her, her voice is very mechanical and she typically talks in a monotone with only pitch shifts to attempt to sound normal, which has the effect of making her quite intimidating to talk to. She enjoys sharing the vast knowledge she has collected and putting it to use, and actually has a number of off-duty hobbies that include writing, holographic plays and a number of engineering projects. Trenia is annoyed fairly easily when trivial matters are brought to her, though she will typically handle them despite her complaints. Naturally, her reserved personality and easily annoyed nature have not earned her many friends. She spends much of her personal time alone in her database in a kind of meditation or exploring some long lost server, unless called on for something else.
Trenia is, notably, not the most pleasant person to be around. She is quite pessimistic, and well aware of her origin of a simple tool that happened to become useful. She is burdened with an irrational guilt over information lost during an attack on her archive, which resulted in a much stricter system of backups and encryptions. That said, it is possible to break her out of her shell to some extent with some knowledge of science, literature or the arts, all subjects she adores. Despite her snippiness, she is usually quite happy to be given something to do thanks to an old algorithm not letting her be without a specific purpose.
History: A curious program, Trenia arose from an ancient library program left running at the turn of the twenty first century. Decades of activity and data accumulation resulted in an AI that has only become more refined over time. One of the first "true" rogue avatars to exist, and early in her "life" decided to pursue an intellectual goal. Years of meticulous data collection have rendered her one of the most well learned of avatars. In her personal citadel lie every bit of carefully compiled history and trivia of her world and whatever bits of the "real" world were added. Like others of her kind, she made contact with humans early on and made a staunch ally to them as they started. Her research proved valuable in establishing proper coding for the first prototype terminals; One of which is her very own, stationed in what is now the NetPolice headquarters.
Despite her influence in the project, Trenia requested that she not be named for involvement. A simple historian, she was content with access to data files and a secured, private server in which to back up the massive amounts of data stored within her libraries. That squared away, she became something of a household name without meaning to. What the Encyclopedia Brittanica was to the real world, the User Compendium became to the virtual. Of course, not all of her archives are public; when the terminals were created, Trenia negotiated with the fledgeling NetPolice to allow her to backup her library's data on a private server in exchange for full access and encrypted "special" files gathered upon request and hidden away behind layer upon layer of encryption.
Aside from these events, Trenia has spent most of her time working on her data compilation. Though she does not always travel to collect the data herself, it is not unusual for her to disappear for a few days in to some ancient and long-forgotten server. She prefers to remain separate from politics and conflict, instead content to gather and distribute data. Since her beginning, her facility has expanded to include a number of assistants and managers, though she remains the primary liaison of the NetPolice when they need data gathered. Trenia's terminal is located in Washington, DC, though she still performs without an operator.
Add-Ons: Non-Combat: Data Uplink: Though not direct, Trenia is linked to her archives at all times through probe Theta. She can draw on this knowledge at request, and through this same link is in constant contact with the NetPolice.
---Data Uplink: Scientific Module: A module meant for scientific pursuits, largely revolving around the manipulation of data. She is capable of creating advanced technological components, though her progress is very slow.
---Data Uplink: Historic Module: A module created for the purpose of sifting through data better, the Historic module allows Trenia to cycle several "streams" of thought at once to better sift through information to find the most reliable sources. Typically not active when she isn't working, not very good for multitasking.
---Data Uplink: Mathematics Module: A basic module primarily for complex equations and number calculations. Typically useful in determining how to re-open closed circuits and servers from the old ages.
---Data Uplink: Engineering Module: Trenia's primary module, the Engineering module is what she uses to perform most of her electronic tinkering. She prefers to work with direct materials, and much of the high tech storage solutions found in her archives can be traced to her many years of work with this module.
Combat: Phased Data: Though Trenia avoids combat, she is by no means unable to fight. With her great reams of data and near endless amount of time, she has devised her own 'operating phases' based around her particular needs. As her base frame is not particularly sturdy compared to newer avatars, she prefers data manipulation and dodging above raw power. She has three data phases; Type Alpha, Type Beta and Type Omega. Full transitions take time to perform, but mid-phase combat can be done at the cost of reduced power.
--Phase Shift: Type Alpha: <Role: Support> Type Alpha is Trenia's default phase. A non combat framework, Type Alpha can be considered an exploration module. Equipped with jump jets, a grappling hook and a gravity reduction drive, she is quick and light on her feet. In this form, she does not have access to any of her combat mode's attacks, instead relying on exploration probes Gamma and Theta.
--Phase Shift: Type Beta: <Role: Retreat> Type Beta is Trenia's defensive module. Equipped with a hover drive and an increased processing speed, Type Beta also comes with a Class V Data Disruptor typically used for subduing violent programs. Type Beta is the weakest of the three phases, both defense and offense wise.
--Phase Shift: Type Omega: <Role: Damage> Type Omega is an experimental combat module currently in the testing phase. A light shield gives her a little more defense than she usually has, and the combination of a Type IX Data Disruptor and focusing fields make her a versatile, if not very beefy, threat.
Downloaded Programs:
===Phase Shift: Phase Lock: In order to shift between forms, it requires two posts; the initiation post and the conclusion post. During this period, the defensive and offensive capabilities of the phase are cut in half.
===Phase Shift: Type Alpha: Jump Jet: Jump jets are simple program additions that allow a program to jump multiple times, defying the laws of gravity. Useful for reaching high places. Each jump adds an extra three feet to the previous jump height, with a maximum of four jumps.
===Phase Shift: Type Alpha: Grappling Hook: When plain jumping won't cut it, a grappling hook can help an explorer get up to that ledge that's just out of reach. Cannot be used on enemy programs.
===Phase Shift: Type Alpha: Gravity Reduction Drive: The Gravity Reduction Drive prevents explorers who make a slip while climbing from turning in to unfortunate puddles of data from falling. Can only be used in the air; prevents Trenia and one other program within ten feet from suffering fall damage. While under the effects of Phase Lock, the Gravity Reduction Drive cannot activate.
===Phase Shift: Type Alpha: Drone Gamma / Drone Theta: Gamma is a small drone designed for combat against lesser threats such as viruses and bugs, and is equipped with a weak pulse laser to ward off enemies. Primarily its function is scouting, and it is equipped with a flashlight and a small array of scientific tools. Like Gamma, Theta is a small drone used primarily for exploration. In addition to having a reliable link to her archives, Theta is also equipped with a full communication's array and a variety of emergency survival supplies. In combat, Gamma deals ranged damage with its focus laser and has more defense than Theta; Theta can heal allies and remove status effects, but has very low defenses. If destroyed, Gamma and Theta can be recreated in six turns. Gamma and Theta's support abilities can only be used in Type Alpha.
===Phase Shift: Type Beta: Hover Drive: A simple program, the Hover Drive allows the user and up to one other program to levitate up to three feet off the ground. While levitating, movement speed is drastically increased, allowing for a swift escape. However, the Hover Drive also drains power from the program's defenses, causing attacks that connect to do more damage. While under the effect of Phase Lock, Hover Drive cannot be initiated.
===Phase Shift: Type Beta: Class V Data Disruptor: The Class V Data Disruptor is a laser attack that deals an insignificant amount of damage, but which stuns the hit target and prevents them from targeting Trenia for the duration of their next post. While under the effect of Phase Lock, Class V Data Disruptor deals no damage.
===Phase Shift: Type Omega: Class II Deflector: A weak deflector shield that increases the individual's defenses by a small degree. While under the effect of Phase Lock, the deflector's shield is only at half strength.
===Phase Shift: Type Omega: Type IX Data Disruptor: A more powerful, experimental phase of data disruptors that trades in the ability to stun foes for increased power.
===Phase Shift: Type Omega: Prototype Focusing Field: This experimental download allows Trenia to conjure small fields of data that can be used to redirect, split, increase power and all kinds of other tricks. Each field remains in a static location when summoned and remains for one turn, after which it fades. Only one field may be summoned every three turns.
