alright, baaaasically, Evolve was meant to turn any avatar infected with it into a hostile trojain program
starndt8066: they looked helpful, maybe even WERE...for a while
starndt8066: then, the code would activate, turning them into abominations that would make Dr. Gero cum in his baggy pants
starndt8066: the code did this by using Lilith's transformation programming as a bonding agent, granting the poor sap using it a limited version of her abilities until the code was triggered by abraxas
basically, the evolve was being "fed" Drones and other avatars, because once the Red light was captured, that fucker was going to be made to detonate.
starndt8066: and what usually happens when massive loads of viral data go EXPLODING across digital terrain
Wr4th: server crash?
starndt8066: nope
starndt8066: well, yes
starndt8066: a hive
starndt8066: Abraxas was going to make a hive out of the red light
when Viral was thrown into the Evolve, they assumed that it's virulent, corruptive nature altered his personality to it's original mindset
starndt8066: AKA, fucking sadistic asshole
starndt8066: BUUUT, the code, which most of it belonged to abraxas, actually spurred not only a powerful evolution in Viral's code, but it awoke Orobouros.
starndt8066: the original virus meant to infect and take control of Mani4c, to use as a spy for Abraxas
starndt8066: basically, ya know how annie and co were sent INTO the walls to scope out humanity in attack on tittan?
starndt8066: think of it like that, but with less titan shifting
But, Viral's mind had essentially retreated in on itself out of grief, pain and just giving up hope of surviving to see Lilith again.
starndt8066: he was close to just going into a mental shutdown, which made him easy for Orobouros to suppress and take control of
starndt8066: his mind was locked away in some desolate part of his own mind, while this sick sociopath used his body to grow more powerful and hurt people

Evolve. Possibly the most devastating viral outbreak tactic ever imagined by a sentient virus. Originally introduced in the Red Light district as a special customizable transformative cosmetic program for those in the district who prefer more...'primal' human activities. It let them shape shift into anything, anywhere, for any purpose. But this was all a ruse.
In truth, Evolve was a trojan virus, meant to infect any who installed it, willing or not, with a strain of virus similar to the one used by Abraxas when he turned Lilith; the streaming celebrity, and Viral's girlfriend, against us with some form of CPU hijacking. After studying some of the victims of this mysterious 'mod' before its deletion, we have confirmed that the virus would overtake them, similar to the Conficker strain used on NDP officer Baretta, during first encounter with the sentient virus known as Zeus, mutating their external appearance and code into abominations of infected data.
During an operation to uncover and eliminate the 'Evolve' factory, we found that viruses were in fact being fed to the tank containing all of the evolve virus data. Had the unforeseen events that led to the late volunteer agent Viral's 'repair' not occurred, the tank could very well have become a virus bomb, large enough to take out the entire Red Light district, and all of its inhabitants.
We were lucky to have had that happen, as in the process of consuming all of that code, Viral had recovered from a seemingly fatal diagnosis of unstable code deconstruction that would have eventually led to his deletion. However, in the process of repairing himself, we believed that the grief of losing Lilith, and coming to terms with dying a slow death, had brought back some of his more sadistic and violent tendencies. We were sorely mistaken.
Viral's 'mind' had taken a back seat in his own body, the viral code he had absorbed replacing it with a sleeper that paraded as Viral. After comparing viral code data following the initial chaos of his reveal, we discovered that Viral had a strain of Abraxas' code within him, the original code meant to infect Net Ops agent Mani4c, to turn him into a sleeper cell, meant to spy on our operations.
After devising a program meant to reawaken Viral's original programming and memory data, we had confronted this 'Ouroboros' at the Cyber City arena, trapping him inside of an isolated battle program, and connecting him to the program. It took four other operatives who were initially close to Viral, to help pull him out, but unforeseen circumstances aided in his reawakening, and finally the complete destruction of Ouroboros.
With this only being a portion of the virus data we have collected from this war, this will help us improve our antivirus and anti-hacking efforts in response, containment, and repair duties by tenfold.
R&D agent Bit, code RD-317, signing out.
