Name: {COMPONENT}/$9R4VDI29 "Grav"
Avatar Style: Rogue
Gender: Male
Personality: Grav's behavioural patterns were partly compiled when he randomly came into existence, and partly customised. He thrives in the darker areas of the net, and he doesn't take anything lightly. This rogue avatar is hardened and cold, but he rarely shows powerful emotions such as anger. A natural leader, Grav's accumulation of associates follow him for his underlying intelligence and good business sense. He's not interested in what others think of him, and he's not very good at handling social situations or friendly interludes, he much prefers professionalism... for the most part. He unknowingly craves companionship, due to a jumble of random behaviour code deep within his core. He has no idea how to satisfy this strange gnawing inside, the frustration often makes him depressed.
History: Grav was randomly compiled using information from around the internet as {COMPONENT}/$9R4VDI29. He was immediately an intense character, a faceless rogue, always careful and never interested in anything that wouldn't help him survive. His personality become more tempered when he fell into the hands of a hacker in the darker side of the net. The hacker, known as Lumberjack, promised that he would strengthen the avatar's programming in return for a simple job. An agreement was made, and Lumberjack customised Grav's behaviour programming, tempering his positive traits by giving him new strategies for business. Lumberjack intended to use Grav as an illegal sales component and middleman for trades across the Underground Network, but before he could implement Grav in his plans, the hacker was captured by Net Ops.
The rogue avatar was stray once again. Using his newfound skills, Grav started to build a business. Bordering on the edges of legality, Grav bought small, compressed files of information and sold them to any net users who displayed interest. He started to attract business fellows, other rogue avatars who joined him in his endeavour as a means of income for survival. Before long, Grav had created a miniature empire, built on foundations of the barely-legal buying and selling of information. Surrounded by new associates, Grav found himself in a position of consistency he hadn't known before. He started to enjoy the life around him, associates were polite and professional, there was only one that bothered him. A defective personal avatar, "Ellipses", was friendlier than the other associates Grav had found. She frequently asked for informalities from Grav, social chats, time together, games. It was foreign to him, and detrimental to the survival of rogues. He found himself refusing many of her requests, but in pushing her away he started to feel sadness. He realised there was something wrong when Ellipses brought him a gift one day. A face. An epiphany was reached by the rogue boss. He had always been cold, nigh-on emotionless, but there was something buried within that made him feel terrible things. Distractions like happiness and friendship, he never thought they could affect him, never thought they were built into his code.
The realisation that there was more to his behaviour than originally thought propelled Grav into a deep depression. He wore the face as a reminder, so that whenever he saw it he would be able to tell if he was falling prey to the complexity of sentience. Images of that face smiling haunted him. His anxiety was a tragic irony, he worried so much about being too happy that it was crippling his business. That was when he discovered a naïve human, Tennyson Wallace.
Grav came across "Tenner" entirely by accident. The human wandered the net via a useless, cheap avatar with a default code name, in search of companions on his ambitious quest for vigilante justice. Grav overheard Tenner detailing his plans to random avatars on the internet, and conceived an idea. Taking Tenner aside, the avatar put forward a very serious offer. Grav's crippled business required a new source of income to repair itself, which Tennyson could easily supply. In return, Grav could provide Tenner with a useful outlet for his heroic aspirations. The avatar's resources would lend themselves well to whatever cause Tennyson saw fit.
A contract was made, as a sign of good will, Grav became Tenner's new avatar, much to the rogue's chagrin. The avatar refused to be registered but, although he despised the user's terminal, Grav had no choice but to move there for the sake of the contract. He finds Tennyson's friendliness and dreams of grandeur insufferable, but he has to get the money he needs from somewhere.
Add-Ons:
* Combat Jet Pack Barrel - The jet pack program which serves as a left leg is useless for flying - but a good weapon for the blasts of green, plasma heat it can shoot.
Downloadable Programs (DPs):
* Connectivity Connectivity Cycle - An internet connection program shaped like a motorcycle. It's simple, the design is sleek but inexpensive. Grav uses it to get across the net quickly.
* Combat Stealth Pistol M71 - An unassuming program which transforms Grav's right forearm into a tube-like shape - a silenced gun. The weapon packs a powerful punch, and it's relatively quiet. [Cooldown: 2 posts]
* Combat Athleticism - A combat program used for dodging, rolling, and running. This program remains active until deactivated manually. While this program is active, Grav's aim and weapon power is lessened a little. [Cooldown: 2 posts]
* Combat Switchblade in Grey - A dark grey blade forms and replaces Grav's left forearm. The blade is rather short and must be used at a close range. [Cooldown: 2 posts]
* Combat Proxy - Grav creates an animated decoy which misdirects enemy fire, while he goes invisible for a few seconds and finds a new angle to fight from... or a quick escape route. [Cooldown: 7 posts]
* Cosmetic Cute Emoticon Face - A gift from Ellipses. Grav simultaneously loves and loathes this program. [Always Active]
* Cosmetic Business Hack - A behavioural program developed by a hacker to strengthen Grav's tactical decisions when it comes to money. [Always Active]
User: Tennyson Wallace
Avatar Style: Rogue
Gender: Male
Appearance: Grav's body is composed of random electronic data, some of indeterminate origin. As a result, his limbs and general structure seems to be taken from atypical sources - his left leg has been identified as a jet pack program, right leg from a slim avatar base model, both of his arms are low poly arms from a beta avatar design, and his torso and head appear to be random shapes used as test objects for environmental light rendering. His face was purchased for him recently by an associate; it's a simple, cheap emoticon style face which is projected in front of his strangely formed head. A bug in his own programming caused the face to become corrupt, and as a result the left side is perpetually scrambled. His colour scheme goes from a bluey grey to a highlighted green, with pale grey as something of a skin colour.
