Constant Challenge(OPEN)

[Prythian]

Harmony's visor covered itself in a wealth of information as a large car rushed down the racetrack towards her. As it did so, it pulled itself up, balancing on its rear wheels, while the front ones sent copies of the wheels down the track as energy blasts towards her. Harmony jigged back and forth, dodging them gracefully but each one passing within a few inches of her body, raising her arms up, blades of light extending from them. "Fyra, now!" The tall woman said, and her user (well, one of them) activated the Enormous Blade DP. Both swords of light combined, stretching outwards into a truly enormous blade as wide as her and twenty feet long. Quickly, she lowered it to the side, as the car almost immediately started driving towards her other side.

SCHWOOOM

With one swing, Harmony moving as fast as she could, the blade moved from one side to another... and as it vanished, the car's wheels all fell into pieces, the car slamming onto the ground, unable to move. Harmony jumped through the air, propelling herself to it's top, and pointed her swords directly at the avatar inside. "You lose again, Drive. You rely too heavily on your mobility." She chided. "Try including some armor so I can't just cut through your vehicles like butter." The avatar inside sighed with a smile. "One of these days, we'll beat you. But for now... I yield." He vanished and the arena changed back into the blank platform of its default state.

Harmony's lips quirked up in a smile. This was actually a regular activity for her. Every few weeks or so, she'd go to the arena, and request a "Constant Challenge"; that is, a special fight mode where one person took on all challengers until they couldn't fight anymore. Drive was actually one of the first avatars she'd ever fought in the arena, and he kept coming back, but with Fyra and Aqua working together, his vehicles were no match for her.

Time to see who was next.

Onimaru walked up to the sign in kiosk and entered his name. "So, this Harmony person sounds pretty tough, think we can take her Erika-sama?" Erika's voice was filled with excitement, "Of course we can, but we need to be smart Onimaru, this person's obviously very skilled." Onimaru chuckled, "Yeah, but that's why I'm excited, a skilled opponent is always the most fun to fight!" Onimaru was bouncing on the balls of his feet, his joy was palpable.  "Well, let's go, Ikuze!" With that final battle cry, Onimaru vanished and reappeared on the battlefield facing Harmony, "You must be Harmony, It's a pleasure to meet you. My name's Onimaru." Onimaru put his fist in his palm and bowed to Harmony, "Before we get started, do you have any terms to our fight?"

Harmony returned the bow to Harmony, smiling gently as her silver armor gleamed in the light. She had long, golden hair and a red-and-blue yin-yang symbol on her forehead. Her eyes were obscured by a blue visor. "Well, I think the obvious first. No hard feelings, no matter who wins. Other than that... Fyra, Aqua, either of you have any terms?" <No.> <Nope! Come on, Harm', enough with the pleasantries! Drive just doesn't put up enough of a fight to be interesting!> Harmony chuckled. "My users have none, so... Let's go!"

The platform spread outwards, changing as it went and carrying both Onimaru and Harmony to opposite ends of the arena. It was primarily a flat, dry wasteland, but all over it were large boulders of various sizes and piles. Not only were they occasionally stacked on top of each other (and some of those tall pillars of rocks seemed precariously balanced!), but they were common enough to lean against each other, creating tunnels between some of the boulders for what would be a certainly interesting battle, with lots of climbing over and under rocks. Neither contestant could see each other.

Harmony grinned. "Aqua. Fyra. Give me... Find Code and Rapid Blaster for now. Fyra, be ready to switch out Rapid Blaster for Sky Strike. Switch synchronization to Fyra's terminal." <Got it.> The twins answered at the same time, each one activating a DP on their terminals. At the same time, the visor vanished and the armor on Harmony's body instantly thickened. Find Code told Harmony that Onimaru was not within 25 feet of her, so she carefully began moving forward through the rocks, making sure to stay behind them and out of sight.

Onimaru smirked, a boulder battlefield, plenty of cover for ranged combat, but also plenty of room for ambushes. "Erika, what would you recommend?" Onimaru dropped his use of honorifics for the time being, he needed to focus on the fight. <Hmm, I'd normally recommend the Ax armor for this kind of terrain, but the boulder's provide very good cover, and some good vantage points, so I'd go with the Blaster Armor for this one, it's agility will be great in a pinch.> Onimaru nodded, "Excellent points, alright, load up the Blaster Armor." <Got it! Blaster Armor loaded!> 

A Onimaru grabbed his card scanner and a purple card with the Kanji for "Dragon" appeared in his hand, he slotted the card into the reader and pressed the purple button on his belt, "HENSHIN!" Onimaru swiped the card over his belt and his armor appeared as purple glowing pieces that attached to his body, the armor was light, giving him maximum mobility. A pistol appeared in his hand he gave it a twirl before holstering it, "Now then, let the games begin." Onimaru dashed forward, moving much faster than normal, before leaping onto a boulder. He then began to hop from boulder to boulder, searching for his opponent. "This is going to be fun."

*ping*

Ah, there he is. Harmony thought to herself. Much faster than she had anticipated; Sky Strike wasn't going to be much use here at the moment. Carefully maneuvering herself around the boulders so as to always keep at least one rock between her and Onimaru, she let out a small whisper. "Scratch that Sky Strike; I want Trigger Ready. He's looking for us, so let's give him something to find." <Got it, Harm! Trigger Ready loaded!> And with that, Harmony's hands glowed as she fired out some shots. However, unlike regular shots, these shots coalesced into orbs that floated at the place her hands were at the moment. She shifted them around so as to spread them out in a tightly-packed cluster, a total of ten orbs glowing in the area near her.

Knowing that she'd only get one good chance at this with the element of surprise, Harmony moved away swiftly between two rocks, hiding herself in the darkness caused by the very small tunnel between them. With the noise the shots had made, Onimaru would almost certainly head straight for where she'd been... only to find ten spheres waiting for him, and the very moment he saw them she was going to send all of them flying at him.

Onimaru heard the shots and changed course, heading towards the shots. <You know that this is a trap, right?> Onimaru chuckled, "Of course, Harmony wouldn't have given herself away unless she had something planned, luckily this blaster armor increases my agility. the boost should be enough to get me out of an ambush with minimal damage." Onimaru pulled out his pistol and flicked off the safety. "Still, better safe then sorry." Onimaru arrived at the source location of the gunshots, "And what do you know? A secluded location with my target nowhere in sight, this ain't a trap at all." Onimaru focused, he knew that something was up.

Suddenly ten glowing orbs flew at Onimaru in a tightly packed swarm, "Kuso!" Onimaru dove off of the rock he was standing on, narrowly avoiding being blasted. He leaped to another rock pistol raised. "Remind me to thank you for suggesting the Blaster Armor for this one." <That was close, see them anywhere?> Onimaru looked around and saw nothing. "No, I'd better stay mobile. That way they can't pin me down." <Good plan, I'll try and think of a way to flush her out.> Onimaru nodded and dashed away.

[Prythian]

Harmony smiled as she 'saw' the sudden movement with Find Code. She didn't speak again until Onimaru dashed back out of her range. "Pretty fast. Any ideas, girls?" <Adaptation.> <That would work perfectly, Aqua! Analyze his code, adapt in the way that can best deal with him!> Harmony nodded. "Damn. I'm going to have to break cover for that. He's just too fast to lure into any traps that would work. Alright. Let's see what Adaptation gives me. I want Thruster Boots for mobility." <Will do!> The extended awareness of Find Code blurred out and vanished, and Harmony turned in the direction of where Onimaru had vanished. Then she leaped into the air, landing on a rock, and immediately spied Onimaru far away. "Analysis... Adaptation, now!"

Within her code, some part of her that had seen both the gun and remembered the speed at which Onimaru moved made a decision... and her speed and reaction subsystems went into overdrive. <Adaptation results: Speed.> <Go get 'em, Harm!> Harmony jumped again, her boots providing her with enormous leaps not just into the air, but allowing her to jump again in midair, and with this she shot towards Onimaru, her own speed quite fast, and held out her hands towards him as she began firing shots at him, five from each hand.

Onimaru heard Harmony firing at him and dove to the side, dodging the shots by the skin of his teeth, he could actually feel the heat from the shots. Onimaru noticed how fast Harmony was now moving "Her speed just jumped Erika! this one's got some tricks up her sleeve." <Unload on her! Keep her moving so she can't get a bead on you!> Onimaru leveled his gun and fired his blaster as fast as it could cycle, all the while dashing and running, trying to avoid becoming a stationary target. "I gotta say, you've earned those wins Harmony, you're quite tricky!" Onimaru's blaster barrel was glowing a dull red, the blaster was firing so fast it was almost as if a constant spray of rounds were hurtling in Harmony's direction. 'I've still got some tricks up my sleeve, I just need to keep her moving.'

[Prythian]

Harmony grinned, her boots firing again and sending her flying out of the way of Onimaru's shots. Her hands once again flashed as she unloaded her ten shots in Onimaru's direction. She landed on a rock and them jumped again, 'resetting' the number of jumps she could make in the air since she was using them to change direction to keep Onimaru from being able to easily track her. "You're not bad yourself, Onimaru!" She said, panting slightly. She was definitely going to keep moving, and with her ability to zig and zag in midair, hitting her was going to be a trickier proposition than it had initially seemed. "Nice shiny new armor you have there!"

Onimaru smirked behind his helmet, dodging the shots, "Thanks, I must say, you've got quite the number of gadgets. You're like a Swiss-army knife, a feature for every situation." Onimaru raised his gun almost lazily, his wrist was loose, and his grip was somewhat slack. "But, I haven't been using my usual style for this form, I was trying to be more 'formal'." Onimaru's body seemed to become more limber, he was loosening up his muscles. "Now, how about I show you the serpent style of gunfighting? My own invention." Onimaru dropped his pistol and twisted his body around, bending at the back while turning, he snatched up the pistol in his other hand and opened up on Harmony, before dashing towards her, hoping to get her in a nose to nose gun battle. firing away with his blaster all the while. 'I just need a little bit more time.'

[Prythian]

Instead of charging forward or attempting to dodge, Harmony landed on a rock and began to spin around. The shots impacted on her thick armor and she winced, because this was obviously still going to hurt, but the moment that she was facing away from Onimaru, she barked out a single phrase. "EB, now!" Her arm blades extended and fused together as Fyra activated her Enormous Blade and DP, and as she spun around it seemed like she had pulled the giant twenty-foot blade out of nowhere in a split second. She continued her spin back towards Onimaru, seeing exactly where he was and swinging her arms to the side to try and hit him with the sword.

It was certainly intimidating, but it wasn't any more dangerous that her swords normally were. It did have great range, though.

Onimaru tried to dodge the blade, but got caught on the arm by the blade, "Damn!" Onimaru rolled and put the barrel of his blaster right against Harmony's gut. "Candygram for Harmony!" Onimaru fired 3 shots before dashing just out of reach of Harmony's sword. He'd have to use hit and run tactics to win this. 'If I was a second slower I'd be down an arm, I need to switch out to my sword form soon.'

[Prythian]

Harmony winced and stepped back as the giant sword vanished back into her normal ones, which she then retracted. "Damn!" <Harmony. Adaptation's finished. Need a replacement?> "He's too fast, but I managed to land a hit. How about we start solving the problem of missing all of the time? Give me Target Sighted, and Fyra, Rapid Blaster!" <Aye-aye, Harmony!> Harmony balanced on top of the boulder, looking directly at Onimaru, bits of data flickering in her eyes. <Everything's ready.> "Hey, Onimaru! Special delivery!" With that, she thrust out her hands, firing not five shots from each hand, but instead fifteen, sending a barrage of thirty blasts heading towards him.

If this was like the other times, Onimaru would be trying to dodge these before they got near him... but unfortunately for him, Target Sighted was a special program Aqua had whipped up that would reorient the shots towards him. They needed some time, of course, but so long as he didn't dodge them while they were within ten feet of him, they'd be heading straight at him until he did dodge them when they were that close. Or, of course, until they hit him or another obstacle.

Onimaru leaped to another boulder as soon as Harmony fired, hoping to dodge the shots, but he saw the shots start to track him. "OH COME ON! She has F%^& tracking shots too?" <What the hell is this woman!? She's got freaking DP's for everything!> Onimaru continued to dodge the shots, dashing from boulder to boulder, but never shaking them. All the while the shots were getting closer. <Onimaru, stop!> "Wha-? Are you kidding!?" <No, look, those shots don't turn on a dime.> Onimaru jumped to the side and looked back, the shots tracked his movement but weren't anywhere close to his agility. "You're right, so if I wait till the last moment..." <-You'll be able to dodge the shots!> Onimaru stopped in his tracks and faced the orbs, he waited until they were within 8 feet of him before kicking off to the side of the boulder rolling to a stop as the shots whizzed passed him, <NOW! SHOOT THE ORBS!> Onimaru leveled his blaster at Harmony's shots and took careful aim before unloading 60 shots, two blasts for each orb, just to be safe. The orbs detonated, stirring up a cloud of dust. "That... was a pain in the @$$." <Your preaching to the choir there Onimaru.> "How much longer until I can use my belt again?" <Not too long, I'd get to a higher vantage point until then, that dust cloud just put a big target on us.> "Got it." Onimaru leaped from boulder to boulder, finally getting to a somewhat stable rock formation 100 feet from the blast zone, "Now we wait..."

[Prythian]

Harmony grinned as she saw the dust cloud. <Wow, usually the fast ones just keep running until they get too tired to dodge. I like this guy, Harm!> "Yeah, I have to agree, Fyra. Let's keep on Target Sighted, but Rapid Blaster isn't going to do much good at this point. He's already figured out the flaw in Target Sighted. So... let's give him something a bit more powerful, something that he might not fully understand what it does. It's time for Sky Strike." <Sky Strike uploaded, then. Give 'em hell!>

Harmony raised her hands up to the sky, aiming at an angle near the blast zone. "Activating Sky Strike. Designated target(s): Onimaru. Fire!" With that, an enormous ball of energy fired from her hands, flying into the sky. Once it had reached a sufficient distance into the sky, it stopped, hovering like a miniature sun... and then it pulsed, three shots firing out of it towards Onimaru. Of course, with Target Sighted still active, they would still have homing capabilities...

Onimaru saw the orb that Harmony fired into the sky, he was perplexed for a moment, but when the orb pulsed and fired at him he cursed. "Damn it!" Onimaru dove off of the cliff and fired at the spheres, two were destroyed, and he skimmed the surface of the third, but the orb still managed to catch him in the gut, "Guh!" Onimaru hit the ground, rolling to his feet despite being hit by the shot. <Onimaru RUN! got to shelter and transform into either sword or Ax form!> "What about spear form?" <The spear's too bulky for this terrain! Just get to cover!>



Onimaru ran, weaving through the boulders until he came upon a tunnel, it was formed from a pile of boulders that formed a ten foot high 'hill'. "The boulders are packed together pretty tight, they don't look like they'd collapse from the shots." Onimaru ran into the tunnel and hunkered down, trying to catch his breath. "How bad's the damage?" <Minor, those shots aren't as bad as they look. I've loaded in your sword armor, it's not as fast, but you won't be bogged down either.> "Good, now how am I supposed to convince her to not just camp out and blow my head off? She's not exactly against using tricks to catch me off guard." <Hmm. Maybe get in so close that pistols aren't an option?> "...That implies that I'm not going to be blown to bits by that freaking floating artillery piece they have up there."



<S#$%! I don't know whether or not she's fighting us or trolling us right now.> "Possibly a mixture of both, I wouldn't rule anything out." <So... what we wait?> "For the time being, sometimes it's better to cool one's jets and think of a plan." 

[Prythian]

Harmony swore under her breath. "He's out of sight. I doubt Sky Strike is going to do much from there, he probably found cover. <Until it finishes, we're stuck with only room for one DP. Do you want to replace Target Sighted?> "Mmm, it's not smart enough to move around obstacles... either program, actually. And while you could always give me Thruster Boots back, I wouldn't be able to defend myself with much if he caught me in midair... If it weren't for just using Sky Strike, I'd ask for Thruster Boots and Find Code to track him down..." Her eyes watched the projectile-spawning orb in the air. "...as it is, I think our best bet is seeing where Sky Strike fires, and then making a decision based on that. Just in case of any surprises, though, give me the Prediction Algorithm in place of Target Sighted, Aqua." <Understood.>

[Mani4c]

Onimaru felt another volley of orbs crash against his 'bunker' "Hmm. I've got it! I'm going to run towards her... and tell her my proposition!" Erika was silent for abour 30 seconds before exploding in anger. <ARE YOU F%^& INSANE BAKA-YAROU!? YOU'D GET TORN TO SHREDS!!!> Onimaru shook his head to clear the ringing from his ears, "Well, unless you have a better plan, I'm just saying F%^& it. I'm sick of waiting, and besides, my agility's still intact. I'll be fine."

Onimaru dashed from his hiding spot and sprinted towards the source of the Sky Strike, he then leaped high into the air and landed right in front of Harmony, they were seperated by mere inches. "HI! Before you try and shoot me, I have an interesting proposition, wanna hear it?"

[Prythian]

Harmony carefully lowered her hands. "You have a few seconds, but uh... firstly you should be moving. Aqua, Thruster Boots now!" She dashed away almost instantly, leaping into the air backwards away from Onimaru and pointed towards the Sky Strike. It was firing its three shots again, but this time something was different. "I only control who it fires at when I set it up. I cannot stop it from doing... that!" As the shots flew towards Onimaru, and where Harmony had been standing just a few moments ago, the orb pulsed again... and then, in a blazing rush, hurtled through the air towards Onimaru, the entire thing falling towards him.

[Mani4c]

Onimaru's response to the miniature sun hurtling towards his head would probably be seen as normal by most intelligent beings. He screamed like a little girl and dove for cover as fast and as far as he could. The three shots, as well as the Sky Strike orb itself crashed into the boulder and exploded.

The resulting blast left a five foot wide crater where the two avatars were mere moments ago. Onimaru hesitantly poked his head out of cover, he looked around and couldn't see Harmony, "Uh, I'll meet you by the smoldering Crater!" Onimaru ran back to the crater, hoping that Harmony heard him. <That...was...INSANE!> "The getting inches from her face or the giant glowey ball of doom?" <Yes.> "Ah, I see."
